ok fantastic im really grateful to you
The HSV blood tests are far from perfect and the results can be misleading. Testing should not be done in people without a high probability of a positive result. Also, up to half of all adults (in the US) have positive blood tests for HSV-1, so even if positive it wouldn't help in knowing whether or not you caught herpes during the exposure you have described.
I would advice you to just move on without worry about all this.
ok and your sure there is no need for a test..i respect the expert i just dont want something to come back and bite me.
Millions (worldwide) of course have caught genital HSV-1 by oral sex. Very few HSV-2.
Many thank. In your professional experience how many people have got HSV 1 or 2 from unprotected oral sex?
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question.
Oral sex is safe sex. Although not completely free of STD risks, all STDs are lower risk than for vaginal or anal sex, and it's zero risk for some. Herpes due to HSV-1 (the usual cause of oral herpes) is possible, but the odds probably are under one chance in several thousand for any single exposure.
And most who acquire genital HSV-1 by oral sex can expect to have typical symptoms of genital herpes -- which you do not. "I think I have seen a small blister" inside some other "cut" sounds like an anxious mind working overtime. So is "itching in the tip". If your symptoms continue, see a doctor for personal reassurance -- or even better, your nearest NHS genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic, or a private sexual health clinic like London's Freedom Health.
In the meantime, I really do think you are overreacting and don't have anything to worry about. If I were in your situation, I would not be tested and would be continuing unprotected sex with my wife with no fear of infecting her with herpes or anything else.
I hope these comments are helpful. Best wishes-- HHH, MD
