Your test indicates that you have HSV-1. So do over 60% of American adults and in the vast majority of cases they have it becasue of oral HSV-1 infections occurring in childhood which then do not cause further problems (cold sores, etc). That you have HSV-1 does not mean that your genital irritation was due to herpes. They is a case ot two unrelated facts which are being incorrectly put together. EWH
sorry the index is anything that is >1.10 or over is positive so my > 5.00 is positive i just dont know anymore I am so confused and these results came from planned parent hood but they use center for disease detection department.
how do u explain that i had sores that looked like herpes and then the blood test showed hsv1 abnormal of igg out of rang >5.00 ? the index is this 1.10 positive
I would disagree withthe folks at planned parenthood. OVer 60% of Americans have HSV-1 ane few of those are genital infections. When people have genital HSV-1, it rarely recurs. It sounds to me as though you have other very good explanations for your irritation and soreness and would not worry further about genital HSV. EWH
okay thanks for your help. I know i dont have hsv2 at all but planned parenthood claims i do have hsv1 genital that it just layed dormant all this time. The day i had the lesions, they took my blood and my blood tested positive abnormal of hsv1 at igm >5.0 I have been going through a divorce guess that explains the stress and outbreak. Thanks anyway.
Please reorganize your questions into a single comprehensible question. I cannot follow this string of random thoughts.
Regarding your blood test results, they are reported in an unusual fashion making them a bit hard to interpret. Typically labs DO provide the number associated with a tests result. IgM tests typically have many false positive results but few false negatives. If your result is <0.80, you do not have evidence of HSV-2. Your IgG results also seem to indicate that no antibodies to HSV-2 were detected. If this indeed the test result, you do not have blood test evidence of HSV-2.
Why is this exchange continuing? there is no evidence that your genital irritation was HSV-2. EWH
ah and im also still experiencing pain burning burning and just went into my obgyn and she tested urine cultures etc nothing everything came back negative. it hurts to sit long .
also if i did experience lesions before should i wait to my 3month mark to get tested again for hsv2? and also i just recieved a phone call about planned parenthood and they said that the day i went in and had my lesions that my blood test showed abnormal hsv1 of 5.0 ? so does that mean at the time i did have lesions of possible hsv1 genital?
is it possible to experience lesions sores and get a blood test neg for hsv2? and develop anitbodies later on?
what would my tests say if i was a carrier? does this mean i am a carrier? that i have been exposed in the past?
i have my recent test results but have questions about it, hSV 1 IGM Antibodies <.80 normal and ref range <.80
HSV2 <.80 normal and ref range <.80 i know this is current but why the number if they are negative for the IGM blood test?
Herpeselect IGG- HSV1 anitbodies abnormal detected AB and ref range not detected
Herpeselect IGG hsv2 anitbodies normal not detected , ref range: not detected
no i know this means past so still im confused on the number of the igm blood test? Y the numbers?
Then there is not good evidence that you have genital herpes. It is likely that your HSV infection is an oral infection that you caught in the distant past. About half of American adults have HSV-1. Please see my original reply regarding my suggestions. EWH
blood test also im now experiencing bv again
"I tested postive for HSV1 and Negative for HSV2". Is this a swab test from the sores or a blood test? EWH
also my family doc and planned parenthood did not take swab tests just the blood test.
also when i went in to my family doc on the 16th i was tested postive for strep b and bv. later after taking the anitbiotics i had yeast infection. from the 16th up to the 21, i have been experiencing my vagina to be tender red to the touch when i wipe and a slight burning. and also feels like needles poking me on my vuvla area and the side of my urethra. I went to my gyno on teh 21st and she said i have bv again. and that it may not have cleared up from before or i just have it again.
on the 12 night i noticed white dots little white dots so i didnt pay much attention to it then on the 13th day i noticed blisters and on the 14 they turned into lesions all the way up to the 16. then they were gone. I tested postive for HSV1 and Negative for HSV2. so I have no clue im scared that i could have hsv1 genital, considering no one went down on me. my gyno said that its possible i could have it but my family doctor said that it prolly from the rough sex and friction and the dryness i was experiencing during intercourse that created these blisters, but i never heard of that before is that possible? i also was wearing a lace thong the whole intercourse time with the bodybuilder so i know it rubbed there, im so confused.
Welcome to our Forum. While I see that you have been asking this question for over a month, the text you provide is a bit difficult to follow. As I understand it, from reading both this post and other posts you have made, you have blood test result that is positive of HSV-1. It also appears that you have had one or two swab tests taken from the sore areas you describe and that they were negative for HSV-is this correct?
I DO note that you apparently had sex on a number of occasions on September 11 and 12 and that after intercourse you went an washed your genitals with liquid soap. Later that day the skin was itchy and dry and then went on to become irritated, red, raw and tender. It was at about this time that you had two different health care providers take a look. If I have this correct, I have several comments which may be helpful.
This does not sound like an allergic reastion but could be. If it recurs following latex exposure or use of KY jelly you would know. You could exposure yourself to these without sex and find out for sure.
Further, it is not uncommon for be irritated following multiple sexual encounters and washing your genitals with soap was the wrong thing to do. The soaps are drying and irritated and thus what you describe may be a combination of the trauma of multiple sexual encounters and the irritation from the soap. It is not typical for herpes lesions to form the first day or two following exposure to a partner either. It typically days least 3-4 days for lesions to appear, longer than it sounds like was the case for you. When all of this is considered, along with the fact that you apparently did have negative tests for HSV, I doubt that you had herpes but obviously, being unclear on the information in your post and without examining you myself, I cannot be completely sure.
My advice is:
1. Do not wash your genitals with liquid soap following intercourse like you did.
2. Use lubricants (and condoms) if you and your partners do not match up size wise
3. If the lesions reappear, go have repeat culture of PCR swab tests for HSV taken ASAP after the lesions appear.
4. If lesions do not reappear and you have a repeat blood test at 3 months, and it is negative, you can be confident that you did not get HSV from the exposures you describe.
I hope these comments are helpful. EWH
