HPV unprotected oral sex

Dear Doctors,

I will tell you my story, last October 2012 I had unprotected oral sex twice with the same chines girl in a massage center in London, and protected sex with a sex worker in a spa center in London as well, I did some STD tests after almost 3 months from the protected sex including HIV, Clamydia, gonorrea, hepatitis and syphllis ( THE DUO HIV test was at 9 weeks) . All were negative, yesterday I read about HPV and how easy it transmitted by unprotected oral sex , but I did not understand what HPV exactly, there are many informations but I am really confused!

I did not get any warts since last October, so my questions are:

-How can I know if I contracted HPV or NOT?

-Is there any chance that I might contracted HPV from the unprotected sex and the protected sex I had?

-Is it possible that I might get the symptoms of HPV in the next couple of months or in the future?

- I read HPV causes CANCER!! can I get CANCER from HPV?

- And what do you think about my HIV test, do I need to have another test now to confirm my result?

Please Doctor help me, I am really going crazy with my situation.

Many thanks,

Yes, you can get HPV fro receipt of unprotected oral sex.  This is a rare event  and even if it were to occur, there would be little chance that the infection would lead to meaningful harm to you.

HPV is a virus.

You have the information you need.  I suggest you read the earlier posts again.  EWH

Hello,

Thank you Doctor for your reply,

I dont know really what to say, I am still confused about HPV!, I read the links you gave me but I did not get it!

Please can you answer my questions,

Is HPV normal infection? Can I get HPV cancer from receiving unprotected oral sex?

Is HPV bacteria? Dr hunter says its more than 100 types, I still did not get what HPV is exactly. How long should I wait to know whether I have it or not.

please doctor help me, I am not an English native speaker maybe thats why I misunderstood some information, can you tell me in a simple way please.

Many thanks,

Welcome to our Forum.  Your tests show that you did not get any STI, including HIV from the exposure you have described.  There is no reason to worry and no reason for further testing.  Here is a prior discussion of oral HPV infections which was written by Dr. Handsfield which addresses many of your questions   http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/HPV-and-oral-sex/show/1515473  and
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Oral-HPV-Cancer-Risk/show/1512873      .  ; In addition, I have answered your specific questions below:

-How can I know if I contracted HPV or NOT?

Your risk for infection is quite low and should not worry you.  There are no recommended tests for HPV diagnosis in men,.

-Is there any chance that I might contracted HPV from the unprotected sex and the protected sex I had?

There is a risk but it is very low.  Please see Dr. Handsfield’ s comments.

-Is it possible that I might get the symptoms of HPV in the next couple of months or in the future?

This is very unlikely,

- I read HPV causes CANCER!! can I get CANCER from HPV?

VEry unlikely.

- And what do you think about my HIV test, do I need to have another test now to confirm my result

You do not need further testing for HIV.  There are no cases of HIV proven to be due to receipt of unprotected oral sex.

I hope these comments are helpful to you.  EWH
