herpes or drug reaction

One week ago today I had an encounter with a stripper.  Lap dance and hand job.  For about 10 seconds she performed oral just on the tip of my pens as I finished.  I am totally beside myself. Began to feel instant uneasiness and pain in my testicles.  I have had no other symptoms until yesterday. Regarding the pain I was worried about a bacterial infection. I had access to and began taking doxycycline hydrate. 2 100 mil caps per day. I began to feel the pain go away but had swelling in my left arm. Stopped taking it.  took it for 2 1/2 days.  Next day developed an itch all over. Legs side back neck feet butt.  Itch comes and goes and if there is a bump it is so small I can't see it.  Am I having a reaction or is this herpes?  How long would reaction to drug last after I stopped taking it.

Most of this sounds anxiety related -- magnifying or making you notice trivial body sensations that otherwise wouldn't bother you or that you wouldn't have noticed at all.  Certainly not herpes or any other STD, and probably not a drug reaction either.

See a doctor if you continue to be concerned.  But I'm afraid this forum can't help further, since it is clear you have no STD or other infection from the sexual exposure you have described.

Hi doctor. Thank you for you previous advice. If I may post a follow up. General itching is much less. However I experienced some numbness in my feet yesterday. Also my testicles feel warm and appear slightly red. Also directly beneath the head of my penis on the bottom side feels warm. I washed well with soap a few days ago and that really irritated it. The skin was a little red.  Feeling a little better now but still concerned. I have no bumps or pain when urinating. How should I proceed?   Still a doxy related issues?

Welcome to the forum.  I can help.

For sure your symptoms aren't herpes -- don't worry at all about that possibility.  The risk of herpes from oral sex is low anyway, and virtually zero for the very brief oral contact you had; and truly zero risk from a hand job.  And your symptoms don't suggest genital herpes.

No infection can cause immediate testicular pain; that had to be anxiety-related or otherwise not from herpes or any other infection.  And herpes absolutely would not cause the itching or rash you seem to be experiencing.  The tining is perfect for an allergic reaction, and doxycycline is a drug that commonly causes allergic rashes.  It could several days after the last dose -- maybe even a week or more.

For the future, you should assume you are now allergic to doxycycline as well as other drugs of the came class (the tetracyclines, including minocycline and tetracycline itself).

I'll add there was really no need for the doxycycline anyway -- but I think you know that.  Anyway, if any symptoms continue or you otherwise remain concerned -- and especially if the itching doesn't clear up in a few more days -- see your doctor to be sure it's nothing important.  But for sure not herpes or any other STD.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD
