Symptoms after unprotected sex

Dear Docs!
I am a male 36 years old. 6 August 2013 i had a brief unprotected oral and vaginal with unknown female 48 years old and promiscious. After heavy mutual oral sex she insisted on using a condom before intercourse. My erection was bad  so i ended up without. After 10 min. i pulled out and ejaculated on her. For the record i am happily married and have 2 children and this was my only fidelity in 4 years. I regreted immeadietly. After 3-4 days i started feel discomfort in my groin. After 11 days i went to an std clinic and tested for Hiv,hep, syph, gon, chlamydia. all negative. The groin still pain and lower abdomen. At this time i panicked and was fully convinced i had contracted hiv. Much to tell about that but i try to stick it to the basics here. I developed anxiety symptoms as burning skin and so. At day 19 i ha and RNA pcr and a combo and syph and hep again. all neg. At 6 weeks the same. All negative. At 3 months all neg. And finally at 6 months all neg. My life has totally changed since this and i still away from my job. After the incident i had lymphocytoses. Wich slowly went down. Now close to normal. Liver enzymes slightly elevated. My GP says i have a immune activation. Mostly due to a reactivation of a latent virus. I have had sexual relation with my wife daily all this time.(she insisted) and she is all fine. My groin and lower abdomen still pain.especially the right side. My panicksymptoms are better now, but the basic is the groin pain. My ears and back of head was also in pain but getting better. My nodes are activated that is for sure, but can you tell me what this can be? I miss my life post August 2013. Please!!!

The groin pain does not sound to be infectious.  It may be musculo-skeletal in origin or have any of a number of other causes.  I tink tht is it does nt get better, I would suggest asking your doctor.  Having your doctor consider your discomfort while being able to examine you may be particularly helpful.  EWH

Thanks Doctor! I guess i just have to trust professionals. You have any idea what the pain in groin may be? Anyway i can be sure i dont have a serious infection? I feel good in general.  Good appetite and so. Thanks a lot for your service.  Much appreciated!

Welcome to the Forum. The symptoms that you describe are not at all suggestive of any STI and your repeated testing has proven that you were not infected.  The fact that your panic has improved with time and repeat testing suggests that much of what you are noticing is related to your guilt and fear related to the exposure you had.

Please remember that most people do not have STIs and even if your partner was infected with something, most exposures to infected partners do not lead to infection.  As you have indicated your repeated tests, which are now conclusive for all of the infections you have tested for, including HIV, prove that you do were not infected at the encounter you describe.

My suggestion would be to return to your doctor and work through what sort of non-STI problem might be contributing to your symptoms. EWH
