Need answers regarding std risk

Hi,

Had several encounters (2-3) with sex workers this year which included:

- Unprotected oral sex
- Protected vagina penetration
- Unprotected masturbation

I have no symptoms of any sort as I understand that my risk of STDs is reduced due the use of condoms as well as mutual showering and cleaning up before and after the act.

However, I need to digress that that the masturbation/unprotected oral sex was done after the removal of the condom. I am concerned that the presence of vaginal fluids from the uncovered parts of my penis or transmission from the condom would put me at risk.

My SO has recently developed vulva itching post menstruation along with whitish discharge with unremarkable change in smell 3 days ago. My last exposure was 3 weeks ago.

With my details provided, was I at a high risk of contracting any STDs? I am particularly worried about syphilis, trich or gonorrhoea given that they are relevant to my SO's current symptoms.

You are being paranoid. Of course there is a possibility. That possib lity, all things considered, is miniscule.  If it makes you feel better go get tested, I am confident that if you do, the test will be negative. EWH

Thank you for the prompt reply.

What about the risk of getting an asymptomatic infection through the unprotected oral sex?

Is it possible for me to have passed my SO an infection, and her symptoms flare up before my actually flare up sometime later? (not re-infection)

Welcome to our Forum.  With all due respect, I see no medical reason to try to link your partner's recent symptoms with your indiscretions.  Condom protected sex and receipt of masturbation are no risk activities and if you had gotten an STI from receipt of oral sex you, not her would have almost certainly become symptomatic.  Transfer of any STIs through hand to genital transfer of genital secretions is simply not a realistic concern- it does not happen.

At the time of menstruation there are a number of changes that occur within the vagina which may lead to the sort of symptoms you describe. If they do not resolve quickly your partner (not you) should seek evaluation form her Gyn.  You on the other hand have no indication for concern or testing.

I hope that this comment is helpful. EWH
