If you are going to develop symptoms form your exposure, they will most likely occur within a week or 10 days of the exposure. As for testing, tests become positve before symptoms occur so testing at any time more than 36-48 hours after an exposure should be quite reliable. EWH
one one one last thing, if i develop the symptoms, when should i develop them latest? in a week? month?
thanks so so much!!
Thanks so much Doctor for help.
one last quick question before i leave you:
if i had gotten gonorrhea or NGU, when is the right time to be tested for these two? cos' if i cross these two, pretty much i will have nothing to worry about.
Thanks so much again.
Welcome to our Forum. This was a low but not no risk event. There is no risk to you from receipt of anal masturbation or from kissing but there is a slight risk from receipt of unprotected oral sex. Fortunately, oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs. Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through receipt of oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny. HIV has never been shown to have been acquired through receipt of oral sex either. If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection) such as burning on urination or a urethral discharge. Even if your partner had an STD (any STD and it is likely she did not), most exposures do not lead to infection. In your case, your exposure was brief; I would urge you not to worry. I would not take antibiotics "just in case" since it is important for you to find out if you are infected. Rather, for your peace of mind, you could go to your local STD clinic or your own health care provider to be tested at this time. I anticipate that the tests will be negative but it sounds like you could use the reassurance that negative tests would provide.
I hope these comments are helpful. EWH
