risk of chlamydia and gonorrhea

Hi Doctor
I am a 28 years old female. Last month I had unprotected vaginal sex with my new boyfriend. He has claimed he is STD-free. I was developed pretty bad UTI 10 days later, and required hospital treatment. I was given a few kinds of antibiotics during the admission. IV Gentamicin 420mg once on the first day, IV ampicillin 1g tds on the first 2 days, IV ceftrixone 1g daily on the second to fifth days of the admission, and oral cephalexin 500mg qid for 9 days after the IV antibiotics finished.
My questions are:
1. if my bad UTI was caused by chlamydia or gonorrhea.
2. If in case, i was infected by chlamydia or gonorrhea, could those IV and oral antibiotics clear the chlamydia or gonorrhea?
3. I have finished all my antibiotics 4 days ago, If i goto have a  chlamydia or gonorrhea NAAT/ PCR tests, can I still obtain an accurate results?
Thanks in advance

I'm afraid you are getting mis-information.
Urine actually now can be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydial infection.  In addition, you could test at this time for chlamydia using a NAAT and anticipate relaible results.

alternatively, if you are really cncerned about this, you could ask your BF to be tested.  EWH

Thank you Dr. Hook. As I haven't been told what bacteria caused my UTI, and in the hospital I guessed the doctor organised urine culture and blood culture, and I am not sure whether they have organised test for chlamydia and gonorrhea. They found trace leuks and trace non-hemolysed blood in my urine. and My nurse friend told me that Chlamydia and gonorrhea cannot be detected in urine culture.
My nurse friend told me that antibiotics can suppress urine test result, so I should wait for at least a month before I goto have the  chlamydia or gonorrhea NAAT/ PCR tests.

As I want to have a test sooner as I am too worried about that.
My concern is whether the antibiotics I had can suppress  chlamydia or gonorrhea NAAT/ PCR tests.
Thank you doctor.

Welcome to our Forum. I'll be pleased to comment.  Gonorrhea or chlamydia can sometimes mimic UTIs but by the time they become as severe as your problems sound, they typically can be distinguished one from another.  Sexual intercourse can lead to UTIs though the introduction of bacterial into the urethra- this is not technically an STD as much as it is a manifestation of the mechanical process of sexual contact.  Your doctors should have tested you for these problems at the time you presented with your UTI symptoms- were you?

1. if my bad UTI was caused by chlamydia or gonorrhea.
See above.

2. If in case, i was infected by chlamydia or gonorrhea, could those IV and oral antibiotics clear the chlamydia or gonorrhea?
The antibiotics you took certainly would have cured gonorrhea but would not have been certain to have cured chlamydia.  If you are concerned, you could be tested for chlamydial infection at this time and anticipate accurate results.

3. I have finished all my antibiotics 4 days ago, If i goto have a  chlamydia or gonorrhea NAAT/ PCR tests, can I still obtain an accurate results?
Yes, see above.

I hope my comments are helpful.  EWH
