I can not express how much I appreciate you responding back to me.Not only have you educated me but you are helping me remain sane through a difficult time.I wish you only the best.
No change to my advice. UTIS are not transmitted from women to men, you do not have an STD.
In a small proportion of persons it can take as long as 6 moths for HSV antibodies to become apparent. This is more common in persons with prior HSV-1 who then get HSV-2 than in other situations. EWH
As I am beginning to put things at rest ,My husband is compliaining of pressure in his bladder & testicle discomfort.I was wondering if my hx. of the uti could influence such problems for him(as I too had lots of pressure). Or even a sign of std.I would like to think not.He does have a Hx.of kidney stones.I just had a Ct of abd.& pelvis.I have 2 Lt.kidney calcifications in the kidney one @1mmx4mm,1mmx3mm.Maybe this is contibuting to my back pain?I am anxiously trying to put the missing pieces together. If you could do me the favor of replying? 1)Is his symptoms due to me passing something to him uti, std, yeast infect.? 2)If one has hsv1,Is that when it takes 6mos.for the antibodies to show for hsv2,more than likely??
Thank you.Your comments help me put things in perspective.
Last response. There is no evidence that you have or have had chlamydia, thus for you to then go on to assume that your joint symptoms are chlamydia associated reactive arthritis is putting the cart before the horse.
As far as macrobid, it is a sulfa drug. It has activity against a number of gram negative bacteria which casue UTIs but little activity against STDs. there is limited activity against chlamydia but theraeutic benefit should not be assumed. EWH
I have an appoint.sched.w/Rhumatoid Dr.I wasn't sure how common reactive arthritis was .Sorry to repeat the question however,I was curious to know what disease could macrobid touch.? I did some reading (unfortuntatly),It does list chalmidia as a std that is a factor when having reactive arthritis. What are other std that influence this disease?I thank you for you valuable time.
As I said above, more than one thing could be going on. You have negative tests for STD, I would urge you to believe them. If you are still having other difficulties, I would urge you to seek evaluation by a physician who can examine you and order tests as is appropriate. Reactive arthritis is a very uncommon process and should be diagnosed by experts, not on the basis of back or other joint pains. EWH
I am a bit worried .It has been since Aug.that i have been experiencing back pain mainly lumbar ,sometimes Thoracic.Joint pain more pronounced some days-left knee, left hip, less frequently the lt shoulder. Is there a correlation between my hx. that could lead me to believe reactive arthritis is a probability? You did comment that it was unlikely that the uti med(macrobid) could have cleared something up???? What disease could the med cleared up?I do remember even after taking macrobid i had a very pronounced lumbar pain mainly left side.I felt as if my kidneys were infected as well.I experienced chills but no fever.I did get lab result in rhumatoid factor -28.I am 42yrs.old.My last urinalysis neg. Please help me.
At this time it is best for you to work with your doctor to sort this out. I doubt that what you have is an STD. It could be another yeast infection due to all of the antibiotics you have taken. I have little more to add and think it is time to end this thread. No more questions please. Work to sort this out with your docotor. EWH
I am really trying hard not to pester you with more questions. However,I just experienced a small amount of milky white discharge today. The nurse said I need another series of cultures.I was tested last month for trich,4 different types of yeast, chlamidia, gonorrea & a few others. Then tested pos.for yeast. Is it possible that I was treated for the wrong type of yeast .Or something else that I could have considered to test for was over looked on my part.My syphillis test was done @5wks 1day and was neg.Every time I turn around it is something else.Or can a small amount of white milky discharge be normal?
It is possible to have more than one process. Your findings and their timing are consistent with a UTI, followed by a yeast infection. Your negative tests for STDs indicate that you did not have STDs. The UTI treatment might have inadvertently treated an STD but it is not particularly likely. Bottom line, the differentiation is derrived first and formost by test results, interpreted in the contect of the time course of exposure and, if present symptoms. EWH
