Good outcome. Thanks for the follow-up. EWH
Hey doctor.
Just an update on what's going on. I got my results in and I was never exposed to hsv 1-2. Did go see a derm but by the time I went in the bumps were pretty much gone. He said it was most likely a allergic reaction because I never put-on lotion down there previous to this incident. Didn't even charge me for the visit haha. Just wanted to say thanks to all your input and giving my anxiety a little less intense. Think your doing some great work. Take care doctor.
This will be the last answer. With all due respect to your efforts at careful description, while I am comfortable that they are unlikely to be herpes, I cannot venture a guess as to what the are. this requireds direct examination. If you can't stop worrying (and it appears you can't), I suggest you see a dermatologist. Please let us know what the dermatologist says if you choose to see a dermatologist. EWH
Dr. Hook
I just had a few more things to ask you. So the bumps are still there. I have not been picking or squeezing it. In some light they look more red and in brighter lights it just looks like bumps. They seem have formed in a line?? There are 5 in total and in some light the head of the bump looks kinda shiny. The smaller ones that seem to be fading well
kinda looks like they are flaking?? Any ideas to what's going on. Could this be fungal?? The two that were away from the group has pretty much faded away. Anything i can do to speed up the healing process? Oh my doc clarified that I was not tested for hsv.. I get the results on friday.
Yes, you need to stop being so fixated on your penis and move on. You do not need further testing. EWH
Dang Doc your fast.
i cant help it, anything new on my penis freaks me out. So you think i should just stop looking at my penis and just move on? My test results come in on friday but if it comes back NEG should i go in for a retest in 2 months? i think i just kind comfort in a professionals advice.
Sorry doc i know i bug. haha
You really need to accept all that you've been told both here at MedHelp and by your doctors. As long as you remain fixated on herpes you will continue to find new "lesions". There is still nothing to suggest that you have herpes. In answer to your specific questions:
1. No, this is too late for an initial HSV episode. Initial HSV outbreaks typically appear within 14 days of exposure.
2. No, the antibiotics would not affect the course of HSV., They could cause rashes however.
3. Repetitive question. See number 1 above.
4. Local irritation or any number of dermatological problems.
5. Yes, initial HSSV is typically more symptomatic than you describe as well as lasting longer (2-3 weeks).
6. Many topical substances can induce allergic reactions. You would need a direct examination to help sort out if this is an allergic reaction or something else.
7. Culture of PCR yes, a blood test, however would detect only about half of infections at this time.
You really need to put this aside. EWH
