what do i have?

Thank you ahead of time for answering my questions. nearly 6 months ago i received unprotected oral from a sex worker. while i was on my back she attempted to mount me and i had unprotected contact with her vagina for approximately 5 seconds before i tossed her off. she was dry and there was pressure as she tried to mount me. other than licking her nipples, that was the extent of my contact.

by the next morning my penis tip was stinging. i had washed after my exposure the night before. about 7 days later i had an upset stomach and some diarehha( maybe nerves about returning home to the wife of 17 years). i went to my doctor and told him about my experience and my stinging penis tip. (no penial discharge). we did a ureathal swab and urine culture. all came back neg for clamydia and gonnorhea. he gave me a shot of rocheprin and 14 days doxy just in case.

25 days after contact my groin swelled and itched (had fatigue). the top of both my thighs also had burning sensations and my inner thigh crease became red and tingly (no blisters)& had fever. also my left side hurt. doctor suspected mono. the day before this happend my doctor surgically removed a benign cyst on my left upper leg. within 24 hours i was feeling sick. this rash lasted for approximately 2 months and i used several antifungal creams. the tinging sensation on my inner thigh lasts to a lesser degree to this day and my butt also has some stinging tingling sensations.

6 weeks after contact i tested neg for hiv(rna test), syphillis, all hep's. i was told i was std negative. my stinging sensation still persists on my penis tip.

3 months after exposure i did the herpeselect for hsv1&2. came in pos for hsv1 at 13.00 and neg for hsv2 at 0.33.

4 months after exposure my testicle began to ache severly and my lower abdomen to feel a burning sensation. penis tip still stinging. i took my gp's advice and began counseling.

5 months after exposure i was told ok to have sex with wife again and not to worry of std's. my penis tip still stinging.
now she has irritation and has tried vaginal creams to stop the irritation. has been 2 weeks for her and no relief. she does not know of my screwup. i was told by my counslor to move on with life and be a good husband. i now feel i have infected her with something but dont want to tell her of my indescretion until i can get a diagnosis.

has now been nearly six months since exposure. i have been to a dermatalogist and urologist. they didnt see anything wrong. i wonder if this could be genital hsv1 but duration of symptoms seems too long.

sorry to have to give you a lengthy book like this but i dont know were to turn now. please help

Let me list all the reasons that collectively add up to only one conclusion:  you can be 100% certain you do not have an STD and never did.  1) The odds of any infection from the exposure you describe were low from the oral exposure and zero, for practical purposes, for the genital exposure.  2) No STD can start to cause symptoms in less than 36-48 hours, certainly not the next morning.  It simply never happens.  3) No STD causes the symptoms you describe.  (That includes herpes.)  4) You tested negative for all STDs.  5) In case the tests missed something, most STDs, including all those that might have caused urethral infection (which is what the early burning pain of the penis might have suggested), would have been cleared up by the antibiotic treatments you describe. 6) At least two physicians (or is it three?), including a dermatologist and urologist, can find nothing wrong and have reassured you.

Conclusion:  You have no STD.  Period, full stop.  Your symptoms are classical for genitally-focused anxiety magnifying otherwise normal body sensations.  Just as some people have to live with unexplained but benign back pain, headache, or joint pain, some people go through life with unexplained but clinically unimportant genital discomfort.  You can be 100% confident you have nothing that will ever harm you or your wife.  Where to turn now?  I strongly suggest you stop looking for clues on line; and stop seeing health care providers for this problem--except perhaps a mental health professional if the symptoms do no subside.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD

I can completely understand you fears. It is almost as if I wrote your story. The only differnce is... I have had  significantly more antibiotics than you....(to no avail by the way.) If this helps, please understand the chances are good that the Doctor will tell you that there are not any STD's that manifest themselves into symptoms within 8 hours(assumed that time duration from comment)
He will probably guide you to try and let this issue go.
Best of luck. (You are not alone)

thank you for your response doctor, i had just thought that with my swollen tingling groin, headache, rash on inner thighs(folds) and tiredness that genital hsv-1 would be likely. any thoughts as to why my wife would now be itchy/irritated down there. thank you again.

You have a misconception about herpes symptoms.  What you describe doesn't sound remotely like herpes.  Whatever is going on in your wife has nothing to do with you; such symptoms are everyday occurrences in millions of women.  Yeast is a good bet.
