Going Dyslexic

Hi guys do you struggle with words?

I have noticed now since I got sick that typing is a nightmare as I have to constantly check my work. I type words which have no meaning and dont make sense. Every time I type ANYTHING I have to check and then re-check it and I can guarantee to find words in the text that have no meaning to what I was talking about.

For example the other day my daughter had put a great photograph on her facebook it was of an eerie woods with almost like a carriage track going through the middle.

So I left a message underneath the picture and said "it would look great with a ghostly GARAGE going through the middle of the trees LOL.

Well there was uproar everyone laughing at me what did I mean GARAGE, obviously I meant CARRIAGE.

Its so frustrating.

Does anyone know why we do this its very frustrating and embarrassing. Mariax

I actually have a story that is embarrassing as H**L but what the heck...This summer I went to my local flower nursery (5 minutes away) to by flowers for my outside pots..I picked them all out.paid for them loaded them in my car got home and placed them all where I wanted to plant so I would be ready to plant them and said oh S**T I left some flowers at the nursery... I looked everywhere first in my car in my trunk thinking they rolled in the back or underneath the seat...nothing...I went up to my husband and said I have to go back I paid for my flowers and I forgot them at the nursery....he said okay.....I went back to the nursery and told the lady I was just here and forgot some of my flowers but I paid for them..she said there were no flowers left here mamm. (mammm) So I said are you sure I was just here....she saidno you took it all I helped you load your car....oh I said...sorry.. I crawled back home... and I looked at my flowers..(all ligned up where I put them) I did not forget anything....what I forgot was what I bought 5 minutes ago ...............I have also done this at the grocery store. neddless to say my husband was looking at me pretty weird when I came back with no flowers and I ried to explain myself..................

Me and hubby have kind of created a ME language LOL.

Its quite fun and bizarre.

Funny enough it just gets worse when I am stressed out or tired.

You have to laugh dont you I just dont take myself too seriously anymore.

I am glad though that I am not the only one LOL, it kind of makes me feel less isolated.

Ditto to the typing...and trying to do much of anything that requires me to focus for very long.  I love the image of us all in the same room putting something together.  I think it would be lots of laughs.  Charley

It seems like more than dyslexia for all of us...LOL.  Could you imagine all of us together in one room, trying to carry on a conversation as we read directions to put something together???  Too funny!

I use Firefox as my Internet browser and thankfully there is a spell checker on there otherwise my posts would be a nightmare lol.

What about following instructions?

Last year we bought a garden bench. It was easy peasy to put together and a few years back I would have tackled it no problems.

Well I got all the bits out. All I had to do was secure each piece with a nut and bolt, could I do it COULD I HECK. I sat in the middle of all these bits sobbing my heart out. I just didnt understand what was going on.

My husband found me and had it made in a few minutes.

Why on earth cant I follow simple instructions its ridiculous......(Mind you its a good excuse to get the old man to do everything for a change LOL).

Oh yes and just like Want to Feel Well I get periods of almost being normal which is fab whilst it lasts LOL.

Have a good day guys.xx

Hi Everyone,

I have to say ditto.I am lucky sometimes to remember what soemone tells me as they are telling me..my short term memory stinks..I can not find words to finish a sentence..thank god for spell check and sometimes I find myself repeating sentences in a meeting or  I loose track and have to ask questions from the beginning of one topic when they have already moved on to another topic..slow comprehension......

I was always very sharp andon the ball......bummer

Yep, here too.  I used to be so precise and I love language so it is very frustrating.  Plus my spelling is gone to pot.....And I muddle up ph. numbers too.  Couldn't even help my son with basic math, which I used to know.

Frustrating! ughhhhhhhhhh
Can we get on a new road?:)

I constantly write & type words with the letters in the wrong order, but I am worst with numbers, nine times out of ten when I take down a phone number I muddle up the numbers, the other day I wrote my date of birth wrong!

Also...I have found that it is best not to argue with anyone because my thoughts get jumbled and I cannot adequately say what I am thinking...consequently it has caused a problem in a few relationships.  Oh well.  It's not an easy road trod, is it?

At work I have struggles with words, memory, and time...my coworkers have grown accustom to when I am having my brain fog...which comes and goes, hour by hour (and when it gets bad enough they know I am going to collapse or have a seizure or whatever the h*** is happening to me).  I have even written work tasks down on a time line that has moved backwards and forwards in time????  Quite embarrassing.

Fortunately I work with wonderful people and they work around my difficulties, but nonetheless, I am very embarrassed.  Other days I am like the old me, sharp as a tack and right on task, so they know I am still "in there" somewhere.

It's like the original thought is there in the brain, but is lost in the delivery to the mouth when spoken or the the hand when writing.

I share in your frustration Maria!!!!!

AND, typing anything takes a Looong time too!!!!!!!!
