Prednisone Info?

I posted a similar question in the MS forum...

My neuro has prescribed a round of prednisone.  Anyone who has been on this steroid, would you please give me some info about your outcome and any side effects?

Thanks!

YES! And it is the absolute worst thing ever! I am really begging them to put me back on the prednisone since there is obvious inflammation going on (sigh). Nothing helps and no one listens, well maybe tomorrow they will. This whole ordeal, since all of my symptoms have started, and all of the testing, I place right up there with childbirth, natural childbirth.

Sorry jorbsid, for highjacking your post-lol. Hope you do are doing well on the prednisone!

You have eye pain also? isn't it the worst?!!! it's the one thing I can't get any relief from. Doesn't seem to be anything that treats it.

I'm in pain right now... have to go and lie down again.

Most recently I was on prednisone in July of this year. It helped the migraine and eye pain that I was having at the time. I started on 60mg and then tapered off. Since I've been off I've been having horrendous eye pain again and I'm begging them to put me back on.

I didn't really notice the side effects this time most likely because I'm taking Elavil also for the migraines and it causes drowsiness. I do know however that it can cause extreme excitability and shakiness, I used to take it as a child for chronic asthma attacks, and my son periodically takes it for asthma exacerbation.

The ends justify the means. Whatever they gave you the prednisone for, it should decrease the inflammation.

Best Wishes,
Chanda

Hello!  I have taken oral steroids, not sure which dose.  I only took them for 1 1/2 days due to side effects.  I felt like I was crawling out of my skin, lol!  I felt like I could've ran 20 miles and still have energy to bike another 20 miles.

While it was good to have energy, I couldn't stand the feeling of feeling like I was gonna bust out of my skin.

I am not telling you this to deter you from taking them.  I am sure that the feeling would have worn off it I had given it another few days.  I just couldn't stand it!  Surely not everyone will feel like that.

Let me know how it works for you!  You have nothing to lose by trying, right?
Take care,
Sarah

It is in the oral form.  Starting with high dosage of 80mg for three days, 60mg for three days... tapering off over the course of three weeks.

hi jorbsid,

is this round of medication oral or in IV form?

i haven't taken oral prednisone, but from what i understand it can cause sleeplessness, increased appetite and nervousness to a lesser degree than an IV infusion like i had about 18 months ago.  i had a worsening of my symptoms after the steroid treatment which wasn't expected, and i pray that doesn't happen to you.

blessings to you,
binx
