Square one again

This week I seem to have had a 2nd flare up and again I'm struggling to walk, the left leg is very weak and I appear to have developed drop foot (or is it foot drop) again.

Seen my Dr yesterday and he wanted to get in touch with the neurologist to try and bump my appt up. I asked him to wait as I only started the pregabalin yesterday and my appt is first week in January anyway.  Today I'm wondering  maybe I should let him ring the consultant for me

I am feeling sorry for myself - in truth I hoped another flare up wouldn't happen

my Dr did say in his opinion it is looking more like MS and this seems to be what the neurologist was waiting to happen

I expect the stress of staff training is all it needs Val to set off a flare to be honest. Supo said to me one day when I felt awful what had I done. All I had done a few days before was visit my mum. My friend drove me down and I saw my mum and brother and his wife who had come from Australia for a visit. Just sat about talking is enough to kick of a flare its more MS fatigue then anything. Just concentrating for a few hours and chatting can take it out of you. She was quite right too.

I hope you are getting your teenagers to help you LOL, I know what they can be like, but you shouldn't be left to do everything.

If you can rest i know its hard even if you go to bed a bit early it all helps.

Big hugs Mariaxxxx

Thanks hun, the acetazolomide was mainly to try and stop the L'Hermittes thing, apparently the neuros (or mine at least) tries the meds in a certain order - he's missed gabapentin and gone straight to pregabalin, have to admit the L'Hermittes is much reduced so even thought there was side effects the meds did some good

I can't think what might have set this one off  although I did a few long days at work staff training week before last and to be honest I think this has been coming on for a week or so, my leg kept going dead and tingly as though I'd been sitting on it

with messy teenagers in the house it's hard to rest - I will give it my best shot

Hi val why were you put on acetazolomide?

Usually when you have a flare with MS its a sign that you could be over doing it. Have you done anything extra this week that could have started an exacerbation?

I know when I feel really well (which is rare), I tend to go off and do things I shouldnt and end up worse for a week.

Even a small cold can start a relapse and believe it or not putting the heating on.

I would be inclined to wait until January because to be honest if this is MS the more things you can tell your neuro at your meeting the better.

Try to rest a bit extra and write down everything that is happening to you.

If it is MS your symptoms can literally change from one day to the next its like being on a roller coaster ride.

Even the tiny bit of stress can make my symptoms exacerbate.

I think you just have to think positive for now that you might have an MS diagnosis in January or even more tests and that MS is a tricky naughty disease and will give you highs and lows.

I am sure you will be fine JUST REST OK. Boring I know but I have become a past master of it LOL.

Big hugs Mariaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
