Changing Neuros

Hi All,
I like my neuro as a person but his follow skills are horrible. He has always been a bit scatterbrained but it's getting bad. I have had problems in the past with him not calling me back or not giving me test results.I should have dumped him after my last mri fiasco. After my last mri I called to get the results.I was told that they dont give results over the phone but if anything important showed up he would call me.So I figured no news is good news.I went in for my next appointment and was told I have 15 brain lesions. I dont know about you guys but I think 15 lesions is cause for concern. He seemed truely sorry and then ordered a bunch of tests and follewd up like he said he would. So I stayed with him. But over the last few weeks I have been having problems and last week I spoke to the nurse and she said he would call me . Well that was last Friday and I have not heard anything.I called this morning agin and still nothing. So thats it for me.
I called the MS society  Indianapolis chapter and they gave me the referal. I made an appointment with a new neuro. It's a women and I think I might actually like that better. She wont put everything off on my hormons...She specializes in MS and neuroimmunologic disorders(TM) . So I think I'll be in the right place. Also this is the best part .The practice has 7 clinics around Indianapolis. They offer 24 hour care. Yes thats right a doctor is available 24/7! I have never heard of this in a private practice setting.....I was even able to get in before the end of the year.
I hate to start over agin but I feel like I am getting nowhere. A new year maybe a new beginning......

Take Care, Theresa

Hi Theresa we are lucky in some respects in the UK because all our notes etc. are on a central database and IF it works any doctor in the UK can access our notes, well that's the theory anyway.

Will be thinking of you. Big hugs Mariaxxx

Hi All,
My appointment with the MS specialist is tomorrow. I have spent the past few days making a list of questions and writing a condensed version of my history. I figured I should not go to the appointment with the 6 journals I have ....LOL It has been a daunting task trying to stay focused and use what brain I have left inbetween the lesions. I have been feeling like I am going to have a migraine. I am one of the folks who has learned to recognize the prodrome stage...Lucky me..lol
Today I pick up copies of my tests mri's,evoked potentiels ect. It will take a while since I have had the joy of going to multiple doctors. I know you can all relate to that. I am not willing to hand over my personal copies because I will never see them agin if I do....

I really am hoping for something short of a miracle here. I need some answers or atleast some things ruled out. As of yet nothing has actually been ruled out.I keep getting the ever popular answer" Your tests were normal but that does not mean that you dont have Lupus,Pophyria,MS or somthing else horrible ect". You all know the drill.

I am staying positive and prepared for anything ......I will let you know what happens tomorrow...

Please Take Care & Thanks for all your kind words and support!!!

Oh, I should also add that my PCP and Neuro are both female.  Nothing against male Doctors, but women seem to understand women better.  And they don't get as put off if you do happen to get a little emotional.

I hope it goes well for you!

Hi,

I think you are making the right choice! My MRI had 20 lesions and my last appt. was going to make or break my relationship with my neuro..thaat is nothing to mess around with...24/7 care..It does not get any better than that..I think you have made a wide a very smart choice..

Be well Jenny

Hi Theresa you have to do what is right for YOU.

Goodness if your last neuro couldnt give you a diagnosis with 15 lesions he is a NUMPTY.

A fresh start is what you need. I think I am going to follow you in the new year we shall see.

I shall keep my fingers crossed that this time FINALLY you get somewhere. My GP is a woman and she is far more sensitive and caring then any man GP I have seen.

hi theresa,

although i can totally understand how unattractive it is to "start over", this new clinic sounds like an ideal situation.  i can't imagine having a doctor available to me 24 hours a day, and the fact that you didn't have to wait for weeks or months to get in is nothing short of miraculous.

i look forward to hearing about yet another neuro appointment success story!

best wishes,
binx
