For those of us in "Possible MS" Limbo

Found this while looking at differential dx's.  It made me wonder if any (or how many) of these ended up eventually being MS after an intial dx of psych, etc.  Found it interesting and though I'd share...

Laura

I'll be praying that your appointment goes well.  June 20th will be here before we know it and hopefully will bring some answers for you.

Thanks for the prayers as well.

Hugs,
Laura

Isn't that the truth, Maria.  Last fall when my issues first kicked into high gear, I went to ER in terrible pain and in tears and was given xanax and an anti-depressant by the neuro on duty and ER docs on two different occasions.  I tried to explain that the tears were due to the pain and they just patted my arm with a knowing look and called me a "cucciolone" (basically a big baby) since nothing was showing up on the EKG or Xrays. Luckily the psych they sent me to nixed that one within about a week otherwise no one would be doing anything STILL I think.

I do think MS can be a real nightmare to dx which needs patience and perseverance, but a hastily given MIS-diagnosis to get us out the door (usually with the wrong medication) does more damage than not diagnosing at all I think.  How so many doctors get away with this lazy approach is beyond me.

I'm pretty glad I don't live in Marshfield either, by the way. LOL That blurb craked me up!

Thanks Laura!
Info like this always gives us something to think about. Like we don't have enough! lol
I'm glad I'm not in Colorado or Marshfield!

I have a MS specialist appt June 20 so I'm praying for answers if it is the Lord's will and I hope it is not a merry go round.

I'm keeping you in prayer along with all of our Limbo family.:)

Hugs and blessings,
Tammy:)

Thats typical everywhere i think you will find.

If they dont get it (the specialists) then they slap any label on us especially one of oh your anxious, because most people who have the symptoms of MS will have anxiety as part of their illness so as soon as you mention you feel anxious and depressed thats it....I wouldnt want to live in Marshfield. Now i have no clue where that is but I wonder if it is one of those places that still live with candles and horse drawn carriages lol......

Sandy I wouldnt think so lol...but like i said on your other thread the LP is to eliminate all other causes of your symptoms, and lots of people with negative LPS do get diagosed with MS it all depends on other presenting evidence.

Thanks Laura that was an interesting find. xxx

Well, I certainly hope they don't try to say I have a psychiatric disease if the LP is negative.  LOL
