Anyone familiar with back issues/symptoms

Hi

I went to the chiro yesterday and was not really sure if I should tell him my symptoms or save it for neuro...I have been diagnosed with scoliosis and had an MRI done on lower spine which showed what he said as normal wear and tear...he said i have a very small protrusion but not enough to bother nerves...Anyway, i shared with him my issues (parethesia) as i figured what the heck and he said oh anything below the knees is L4-L5 that must be a pinched nerve ....what?????? He siad I did not have anything effecting the nerves...???go figure..he said I need some more adjustments...whatever....so he did a few adjustments but I still have symptoms......

I know this could be a different forum question but anyone have similair issues?? Can I have 2 dififerent issues causing parethesia??pardon my spelling

Thanks samm,

I am frustrated as I can not sem to get a straight answer.... first he says no protrusion that would cause symptoms for me like this and on another visit he says it's pinched nerves...gotta laugh...He said he is not ready for MRI's or needles ....yet...so what does that mean???

I am more and more confused eah time I visit a doc...

PS Thanks for site..i will check it out..

Hiya jibs

i don't have experience of a chiropractor (chiropracty doesn't seem to be as mainstream in the UK), but a friend of mine with serious back probs sees a chiro and he's able to dx from MRIs (I mean he's qualified to do so).

Not sure if I've got the right end of the stick here, but it's interesting that chiros say one thing and the neuros often say another when faced with the same set of films! My friend certainly had pinched nerves at L4/5 and the doctors had been vacillating for ages about her sx.

I suppose in theory one can have two things or more that cause parathesias in the same places. Localised (as in e.g. peripheral neuropathy) and radiculopathy (from the nerve root in the spine).

I find this sort of dermatome map really useful for working out which spinal bit is connected to what sx: http://www.backpain-guide.com/Chapter_Fig_folders/Ch06_Path_Folder/4Radiculopathy.html
