Joint Hypermobility

Hi all
I've not been about much as I've been feeling out of sorts, I've just found out I've got joint hypermobility so that explains all the pains in ALL my joints, I was diagnosed at a pain clinic just this week but considering I was seeing a rheumatologist for a while, I've been wondering why on earth she missed it!!! She discharged me as I have spinal myoclonus and she told me that was the reason I had these pains...uuummmm what in my wrists???? Oh yeah, your wrist bone connects to your back bone LOL.
If any of you have joint hypermobility I'd love to hear from you, all the info I have at the minute is a leaflet the consultant at the pain clinic gave me.
Hugs to you all.
Suz

dear suz,

i am sorry to hear you have not been having such an easy time of it as of late.  i have also been off the radar so to speak for the past month or so.  it's been a tough time for many of us on the board.  jibby has been pulling double duty and many of the new folks have stepped up and have kept the conversations flowing very nicely.

i have always had some degree of hypermobility in my joints, but no one has mentioned it as part of my spectrum of symptoms.  did the folks at the pain clinic say what causes it, or if anything can be done to help alleviate the pain aside from more medications?

i hope you are feeling okay.  i'm glad to see you posting again.

many hugs,
binx

Hi Jibs
The hypermobility is separate to the spinal myoclonus which is what I've said in the past to the rheumy...I told her I thought I had a couple of different problems but she focused on the fact that I have myoclonus and couldn't see passed that.
My back went out a week ago so I'm on 2 sticks now instead of one ;o( Off to see doctor again tomorrow to see if joint hypermobility could be the cause of this as it happens on a regular basis. The treatment for JH is basically meds there are a couple of diseases that are associated with JH so I'm going to ask doctor about any tests I may need,
Rare inherited conditions are Osteogenesis imperfecta, the Marfan syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I'll keep you updated.

Hi binx
Sorry you've been out of sorts I hope you are picking up a bit now.
I've mentioned about causes of joint hypermobility in my post to jibs above, basically it can be plain and simple you are double jointed and may or may not cause other problems or can be inherited and cause the above mentioned syndromes. I'll know more when I see my doctor tomorrow.
I have been taking pregabalin which should help with pain but unfortunately doesn't suit me very well so I need to decide whether to stay on a lower dose or stop completely. The pain clinic recommended I tried to stay on a low dose.
You take care of yourself
Hugs
