The effects of central heating

Well its that time again. I have tried to stave off the day that I need to turn it on but hubby was frozen last night and almost crying with the cold (he is too skinny LOL AND never eats anything).

So I finally had to turn on the central heating.

Within an hour my legs were buzzing away like a little moped.

I went to bed at 7pm to watch my soaps (hubby doesnt like watching them so we have 2 systems in our house), and the heat nearly drove me crazy, my legs were going, I had sensory stuff where I hadnt for weeks and this morning when i woke up I had a headache.

It was only on until 10pm and I couldn't isolate my radiator as there is something wrong with the tap on the radiator so it had to stay on until 10pm and I was hanging LOL.

I feel rank this morning.

Uhthoffs symptom is only usually found in MS and ON patients so why do I get it? It was one of my first every symptoms.

Oh well I am getting the plumber in this week to sort out my radiator I am not going to go through another winter feeling ill again.

Does anyone else get excerbated symptoms through the heat?

Oh good morning guys. Mariaxxx

I've been noticing lately that when I get overheated my head starts itching like crazy!!  It took me awhile to realize what was casuing the itching, but finally realized it was heat.

I've also been tingling all over and my tingling is worse than they have been since last winter, so hmmmm...maybe it could be the heat.  I didn't even think of that.

I also can't stand to be outside in the summer.  I hate that for my kiddos, because I know they want to play, but I can't hardly take the heat.  It just drains me.

Hmmmm....maybe something to add to my list for the neuro!!

Hi Maria,

I had pretty bad heat intolerance before treatment for Lyme disease.

It started out minor, and could appear from a short burst of heat (getting face full of steam while cooking would make my whole face tingle like mad), or it could be all over (a hot shower or exercise would aggrevate all of my symptoms to some extent).

With time it got worse, to the point that if I let the shower get too hot for even a moment, I'd have no choice but to go back to bed for hours.  Horrible fatigue would onset every time I got too hot and it was disabling.  Of course, heat continued to make my sensory symptoms act up as well, but it was much worse to become so wiped out and awful that I was forced to miss work, cancel plans, etc., all from a silly thing like a shower!

Fortunately for me, my heat intolerance is greatly improved now.  It can still crop up but not in the debilitating way it appeared in the past.

While not all people with Lyme disease experience this, a subset does.  And while I don't recall off of the top of my head, I once asked Quix about it on the MS forum and I know she stated that other conditions can cause heat intolerance as well.

So in summary, other conditions can cause it, and at least in some cases, it can be reversible.

And good morning (or afternon or night, depending on when you read this!) back to you!

Hi Maria,

I don't really cannot relate to your central heat issue, but I was wondering if you got the plumber out there yet?

How are you feeling?

Wanna :o)
