twitching symptoms

Hi,

I have had short term memory problems for awhile not but starting in September, I started having some strange symptoms which included tingling in my fingers and toes, burning toes and then within the last three weeks I have had twitching.  The twitching is mostly on my left side.  It feels like electricity.  When I am sitting or resting, I get shoulder shrugs, foot jerking, muscle contractions in my neck, arm, leg and even in my side like in my diaphragm area.  Occasionally the shoulder shrugs go from one shoulder to the other and back again.  I've mentioned to my neurologist all of these things.  He had mentioned to me the possibility of parkinson's but I've not been diagnosed yet.  I'm frustrated with the nonchalance of my doctor who tries to minimize everything.   (oh it probably is nothing).

This is not nothing to me.  I am on an extended medical leave.  I've run out of money for copays.  The copays are sending me into the poorhouse.  I need to get answers and now not later.  This is not a casual thing to me.  I want info.  How can he be so casual?

Hi qpd

I'm sorry you're also getting the standard dismissive-neuro treatment - it's so disconcerting, isn't it? Of course you want and need answers!

Have you looked at this:

"The dyskinesias can be categorized as chorea, dystonia, myoclonus, tremor, and paroxysmal tardive (late-onset type). Other forms of dyskinesia include athetosis, ballism, akathisia, tics, stereotypy, and restless legs. Dyskinesias can also be called hyperkinesia syndromes."

From; http://www.answers.com/topic/dyskinesia - it's a starting place, i'd say.
