Punching??

Hi everyone... Well I don't cut myself of anything.. anymore. I only did it once and never did it again, but I have started to punch myself.. Would anyone consider this self harm? I don't do it hard enough to break a bone or something... but it hurts I can tell you that.
Any opinions?

I know its bad to hurt yourself... But sometimes I just feel like I need to be punished, if I procrastinated in something for e.g. I am not always necessarily in pain or trying to cope with emotions... I just sometimes think I deserve it. But other times I do use it for coping with stress (anxiety and frustration mostly)... Plus, I can get away with it, seeing I don't bruise easily.... I only do it sometimes...
Is it really that bad?

Thanks for the comment. :)

Yes its self harm. More specifically Self Inflicted Violence (SIV). Punching may not leave scars but it does have the same effect of giving yourself a feeling of control, as well as relieving any urges to punish yourself.

Dangerous?

All SIV is dangerous because its a negative coping skill. Its very possible to learn and implement new healthy coping skills. You can heal from this.

below just some info on SIV from my blog.
