Concerns about depo-provera?

Hi, I received the depo injection on the 27th of November, exactly 6 days after my cycle began. I'm 16, but it is not intended for birth control. It was intended to lessen the pain I experience during menstruation. I am often vomiting, and extremely dizzy during menstruation, to the point where it is affecting my school work and social life. I was checked for ovarian cysts, but they were ruled out. Anyway, since I got the injection, I have been extremely tired, often sleeping in the afternoon, and I have noticed my vagina had developed a different smell. I am not sexually active, so sti's are ruled out.
I got my last period on the 27th of December, and I had no pain, for the first time in 5 years. However, my period lasted almost 2 weeks, ending on day 12. I'm wondering if this length will lessen, and what experiences and advice other people have had with depo, and whether you would recommend it long term for a 16 year old.

NOHARD, my mum did all the research, and was happiest with putting me on the Depo-Provera, so I do trust her decision.
hnw121507, thank you, and I think I will continue it, at least for a while, the extreme period pain is gone, so that is a massive relief.

When I first started depo I had the same problems but by my third shot things had leveled out and I actually stopped having my period all together until after I stopped getting depo...the first shot is the hardest I would give it some time and if u still have problems after your second dose contact your doctor with your concerns
