Is it normal for my husband to master ate beside me in the bed and lie about it?

On several occasions I have suspected my husband is masterbating in the bed next to me. I have asked him about it a few times and he denies that's what he's doing and said he NEVER masterbates. I have been very open with him about masterbating myself and let him know it's no big deal. In fact I told him it was a turn on for me and I would like to participate if that's what he's doing. I encourage it. I just think if he's going to do it right in front of me (and pretend to be asleep) and lie about it then he should do it behind closed doors where he has his privacy and I don't have a clue and don't feel lied too. Last night he pretended he was asleep so I tried my best to sneak a peek while he was going at it but couldn't. Finally he looked like he was about to go for round 2 or finish round one so I spoke up and asked if he was awake and told him I wanted to have sex. And of course we did. He got the hang of his life bc of how turned on I was and then we went to sleep when was over. He's a very private person and I respect that but my feelings are a little hurt bc I feel like he's lying to me. And bc he says he's not doing anything I can't even suggest that he do that behind closed doors. We have GREAT SEX. And I don't feel like he would do it on his own than have intercourse. I just don't get why he would hide it when he knows how I feel about it.

Since it you have already talked with your husband about masturbation, then there is no need for me to suggest that, but further talk may be useful.  Is he masturbating while watching pornography on his phone or is he just doing it in the dark without any visual stimulation?  Does he have any interests or fetishes that he is imagining but not divulging to you?  His lying about it is worrisome, since you've voiced your appoval of masturbation already.

Here is another woman/wife weighing in.  Masturbation is easy.  Easier than having sex/making love to your partner.  I don't think it's a personal statement of his affection or desire for you.  But rather his just wanting a quick release without having to cuddle and be considerate of someone else.  I agree with you that it is a little lazy to have to stay right in bed to do it with you there.  Like, take a quick to the bathroom dude.  Maybe tell him that.  That you don't care about it but that you really would rather he take it to another room.  Heck, you can even say it is disrupting your sleep and that is rude of him.  And if he tries to lie, say forget about it.  You know so stop with the game playing.  Take it to the bathroom or wherever so you can sleep.  good luck
