Vasectomy Contemplation - Bit Confused...

Hello,

I am in a relationship & seriously contemplating getting a vasectomy.

I am very sure at the moment that I do not want children, & would enjoy the luxury of having sex with my

girlfriend without a condom with the peace of mind that no accidents will happen.

However, very sure is not 100%. & vasectomy becomes permanent. Which brings me to my next point:

I have read somewhere that since the testes still produce sperm, one can always have sperm extracted straight

from the testes at any time in the future.

I am unsure what happens afterward.  Can fertilization still take place artificially using this extraction method?  If

so, what is the name & cost & how difficult is the total procedure?

I ask this in case I ever choose to have children, & my decision virtually boils down to this one point & possibility.

Would appreciate a response very much.

Thanks, regards, & god bless,
Evan.

Imago (27) was unsure about the procedure, its cost, and consequences, and Blueboy (15) was advising him to wait until he had reached a proper decision.

Hi, I am not 15 years old.  Maybe my profile erroneously says that, hence I have to change it.  I am a 27 year old male.  I think @ 15 I was more interested in other sexual urges without the thought of condoms or vasectomies b/c I wasn't active yet =P

So all I am interested in is being informationally sound on all my options.  My own logic, be it faulty maybe, is that if this testes sperm extraction is real, then sex for someone in my position has the potential of being twice more fun with permanent ease of mind.  My logic extends to even if me & my girlfriend break up (god forbid but realistically in this unpredictable world), a vasectomy would make it 100% my choice in the future for when & where to have a child (accident free state).

That is indeed if a procedure like that (testes sperm extraction, artificial fertilization) is reliable, affordable, & do-able to a reasonably satisfying degree, which I am very very interested in knowing more about if anybody does carry any concrete information it.

    Hello :)

At your age (15 ?) that would not even be an option. You would have to be a certain age before a doctor would even perform this procedure. By the time that age comes, I am sure that you will have changed your mind :)

It is very good that you are being responsible and using a condum......Good for you!
Even if your partner decides to use the "Pill" I think that you should still use a condum.'
SOmetimes, young ladies are either:
1)  not taking it correctly..making your chance still high in getting one pregnant

2)  May not be truthful about being on the pill.

    Good luck,

listen I havn't a clue about how much it costs or anything like that but I wouldn't do it just yet. If you do have it but decide to have kids it will be very complicated. If you realy want to go for it but the other option is just wear a condom or your girlfriend go on the pill. most women don't like being told what to do conserning the pill but you could bring it up and see how she feels about it before you have the procedure.

best regards, conor
