Hi.

There are many factors that can influence lubrication--some emotional and some physical.

PCOS syndrome indicates hormonal imbalance. Any change in your production of either estrogen or testosterone (yes, women produce testosterone as well) can change both the quality and quantity of your lubrication.

Another question is whether you're still as turned on during sex with your partner. Sometimes, sex can be very exciting when it's new; but as it becomes more routine, the excitement dwindles. Maybe your tastes are changing. This might be a good time to investigate some new things that might turn you on. Try looking at some erotica for fantasy material and see if anything appeals to you.

There are also other factors that can influence desire. You might also examine what else has been happening in your life that may have affected you. Are you content with yourself, with your life, with your relationship? Are there any family or work crises? And how does your partner respond to you? Is he still turned on to you?

If none of the above applies to you, speak to your gynecologist about having your hormone levels checked. Testosterone is a very powerful hormone which contributes to sexual interest and desire. You may be producing less of this sexy little helper, so it’s a good idea to speak to your doc. about having your levels checked. Good luck to you. Dr. J
