Swollen labia...

I wasn't sure what to put this under... but yesturday I was at my girlfriend's house (both girls, both 16) and we were touching each other and her nail hit the blood vessel on the outside of my labia minora and it began to swell up and bleed. I went to the doctor and they said it's a common thing haha and that I should just take painkillers and put ice on it to stop the swelling. It's been a day and the swelling's slowly going down but I still can't sit properly. The whole of the left side of my labia minora has swelled up. Does anyone know how long it will take to get better? I'm a dancer and I have to take time off if it doesn't heal within the next few days? And does nayone know what I could do to help it, or should I just keep sitting on ice?

Ouch! Sounds painful. However, I don't have information about injuries. This is a question for the gynecology expert forum at:
