Small lump of skin inside right hand?

I have this weird lump of skin on my right hand's palm. Normally it's just a bump but I keep picking at it (awful habit) and after I accidentally picked off the top layer of skin I noticed this lump wasn't connected to any of the skin on any of it's sides, only on the palm itself.

Is this something I caused by stupidly picking at something harmless? Or is it something I should go to the hospital for?
