red spot

I was out in the sun today and had gotten sun burnt. Later on at night my back was itchy in one spot I told my son to scratch it and he told me that there was a red bump about the size of a pencil eraser.  It has been itching me and im really worried about what i could be.

I have layed out in the sun my entire life but this past weekend my back was exposed on a sail boat w/no protection.  I peeled very badly and have many red bumps that not only itch but hurt.  I put aloe on it to no avail, can this become cancer? My mom died of brain/liver/lung cancer to it does run in the family.  What can I use for it?

Hi,

If it appeared the same day, it's probably just a bad sun burn. Cancer takes time to develop. However, it is something to keep an eye on. Bad burns increase your changes of skin cancer later on. In general, strong sunscreen is always a good idea.
