Thanks for you answer Steven Y Park, MD but when you said to me By definition, when you wake up when you're dreaming, that's when your dreams are most vivid. What do you mean by most vivid? Do you mean like very scary? My last question is when you said to me The dreaming stage (REM) is when your muscles are most relaxed and most prone to obstruction. What do you mean by prone to obstruction? Does that mean a nightmare?
Recently, there's been more and more evidence that night terrors (and even sleep walking) can be caused by sleep-breathing problems such as sleep apnea. Confusion during transition from different sleep stages can lead to these conditions. There's no minimum number you need to get it treated. It really depends on how much it affects your quality of life. By definition, when you wake up when you're dreaming, that's when your dreams are most vivid. The dreaming stage (REM) is when your muscles are most relaxed and most prone to obstruction.
I have been scared awake by what I think are night terrors and I am 62. I was told my leep apnea could be causing it. I'll let you know after I am on my cpap for a time.
