Hi, your history is suggestive of Circadian rhythm related sleep disorders. Yours normal day and night rhythm is altered. This especially occurs due to misalignment between the environment and an individual's sleep-wake cycle and is termed as Delayed sleep phase disorder.

It can also be due to inadequate exposure to daylight, your body is unable to sense the daylight and it loses touch with the environment and hence there is disturbance in usual night sleep.

Firstly, you need to be in daylight (windows open) for long hours so that your body can regain the normal day-night cycle. Alternatively, you can stay in bright light during the day, which will help you to stay awake.

Secondly, you can try melatonin against prescription which helps your sleep cycle to bring it to normal.

Even benzodiazepines or non-benzodiazepines against prescription are available which can help induction of sleep during night. I suggest you to consult physician. Take acre and regards.

Hi,
i have the same problem.I had it for 1 year now.Sometimes it is beter ,sometimes is getting worse. My first sleeping troubles started with one panic attack at night. Then i started over thinking about my heart beat,i thought something bad is going to happen throught the night.Things always seems to be scarier at night. So i am more calm now, dont have panic attacks, but i do still have anxiety sometimes. And for a couples of day again cant fall asleep till 4 am.It is like as soon as i see light outside my window i am safe to sleep, but when it is night i am afraid to sleep.I have been on citalopram for 4-5 days, but it was a nightmare. My sleeping problems got worse and i had very bad side effects ,so i stopped it and decided to deal with it my way trough Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(which i am new to,but it is a good start),with self talking and realising that it is just fear,it is all fear of loosing control, fear of death. And it is not real.I am going to be ok.I read a lot of spiritual books now written by well known mediums like Allison Dubois. But it is only because my sleeping trouble are related to fear of death,so if you feeling different ignore my post.
Good luck!
