Lucid Dreaming

Hey

Recently I've been having lucid dreams (while dreaming I become fully aware that I am dreaming) but upon becoming lucid in my dreams I can feel my head hurting from forcing myself to stay asleep. I can also feel my sleeping body at first in bed during my lucid state.  I was wondering how I could calm myself down when I realize I'm dreaming? If I am to force myself awake from this dream state I end up seeing characters from my dream for a few moments while I'm awake - and this scares me which is why I force myself to stay asleep. I also seem to be suffering from false awakenings (I wake up but I only dream that I wake up.) as you can probably tell this is all very confusing for me.

Lucid dreams alone are one thing, but if they are part of a bigger picture or a set of symptoms, getting evaluated by a sleep doctor could rule out anything going on that could benefit from treatment.
