Narcolepsy? Can anyone describe their experience?

Hi,

I'm not well at the moment, and I'm worried that I might have narcolepsy or MS.  Can someone with narcolepsy please tell me about their symptoms, especially leg jerks, muscle sensations, chills, fatigue?  It would help me a lot.  Cheers

I have narcolepsy I was diagnosed about a year ago at a sleep clinic.  My symptoms were all of a sudden I would get swetty my whole body would go numb and tingle. then I would (what I call ) pas out for about 10 minuntes.  I have RLS which would maybe explain the leg jerkings but no chills and yes I have day time fatigue.  The sleep dr put me on dexedrine which helps the fatigue but i still get the passing out.  Good thing is I can feel it coming on about 10 minutes before it hits so I am safe to drive and what not.  Hope this helps

Diagnosed with N over two years ago. The main symptom is excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS). The constant need to sleep and never being able to get enough. There are a multitude of other symptoms, hypnagogic hallucinations (HH), sleep paralysis (SP), cataplexy (Cats), insomnia and on and on. The best advice I can give you is to find a good source of information about N and educate yourself. I am a member of a support forum that is full of very active members that are truly helpful in both understanding N and in living with it. ************* dot org. If you are truly suspicious of having N, for me, the first step would be find out. That would require a sleep study.

mm27 the passing out you are referring to is most likely Cats. Cats is a very dangerous thing and I would suggest you get with your sleep doctor and discuss treatment options.
