Question

Hi, I'm new to this site, it's fantastic. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has Narcolepsy and Obstructed Sleep Apnea?? I have both and feel like I'm the only one on the earth who is this lucky..LOL!  My Neurologist calls me her Medical Phenom !. I also do not have cataplexy, but regularly experience Hypnagogic, at onset of sleep. Thanks, have a good one.... Fwenn

I have a CPAP machine , but I can't use it  the air rushes in so fast I choke, I just went for a BIPAP sleep study, it was awesome. I slept like a baby. the difference is the Bipap adjusts to your breathing and it didn't choke me. so now I'm waiting for the machine. the sleep apnea isn't too bad, but my narcolepsy is so difficult to manage. I haven't been outside after 6:00pm in about two years, my medication runs out around 4:00pm so I can't drive. when I had my first sleep study they said from the time I hit the pillow it took me 3 minutes to hit REM and I stayed there all night, you can imagine what I'm like when my meds run out.....LOL!! they also say that for a regular person to see what it's like to have narcolpesy, they would have to stay awake for three days straight, then try to function....that was a WOW for me..anyway, thank you for answering my letter, it's nice to know I'm not alone...
