RMD Sufferer

Hi everyone
I am 35 now and i have been rocking myself to sleep since i was 9mths old (my mum says)
When i was 15 i woke suddenly with crippling vertigo and i have been living with it (JUST) for the past 20yrs
i've had all the tests, EEG, MRI, CT Scan,Blood work done, ear nose and throat specialists, neurolagists, etc etc with no diagnosis.

I think im dizzy (non spinning type) because of the rocking. I also suffer from sleep paralysis sometimes.
Since i was 15 i've forced myself not to rock but when im in light sleep or half asleep i rock uncontrolably until
i wake myself up or my partner wakes me to stop. If i only allow myself 4hrs sleep everynight i wake less dizzy because i think im so exhausted that i sleep deeply and dont rock, but i cant live like this.  I am despirate to stop this rocking.  If anyone has any ideas for me PLEEEASE

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
What you are having is rhythmic movement disorder which is a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary, repetitive movements of large muscles groups immediately before and during sleep often involving the head and neck. Because of the abnormal writhing movements, often patients’ sleep patterns are disrupted.
Benzodiazepines or tricyclic antidepressants have been used as treatment.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
