Zoloft and Sleep?

Does Zoloft help with insomnia? My MD prescribed it because I've had such horrible sleeping issues for months now. How long does it take to help sleep? I'm on 6.25 mg. Thanks!

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Zoloft causes somnolence as side effect, but to most of the sedatives/effects (sleeping tablets), people develop tolerance, that is they stop working very effectively with time. So, try to develop good sleep hygiene. Sleep and get up at the same time every day, avoid smoking, alcoholic and caffeinated beverages and exercise regularly.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
