night eating

I have been waking up in the middle of the night for the last 12 years and eating, sometimes without remembering.  I hate the way I feel after I do this.  I am considering going to a hypnotist.  Could this work?

Hi
You might be having sleep-related eating disorder or night eating disorder. It is usually not an eating problem but a sleep disorder. You can consult a specialist in this field who can do a medical examination and admit you in a sleep lab where your brain activity during sleep can be monitored. Depending upon the findings, the doctor can prescribe medications or teach you hypnosis for the treatment of the disorder. In the meanwhile you should think about your physical security by ensuring that you take safeguards to prevent injury during sleep walking.
Take care.
Regards.
