screaming in sleep

My mother ,46 yrs of age occasionally screams in the night.it is not on a daily basis.once in 10 days or so. The sceam is very very loud. She does not realise it quite a number of times. No bad dreams or anything.she does not remember. she has a good sleep she says.she is having cerebral ataxia. is it because of this that she screams, and also there is continuous leg movement after every minute.either she moves her foot or hand or anything...but continuously after every minute there is a movement. this does not happen in the afternoon...only during the night sleep this happens. Is there any reason for this???

Hi, how is your mother feeling now. Commonly such sudden screams are due to bad or horror dreams. She might have had withnessed some bad incident or any such thing which she might recollect often so that it triggers such episodes. She can relax and abserve for some time, if no relief consult a neurologist for further evaluation. Take care.
