seeing things

Hi,
I am 71 yrs old. Recently I am having strange experience and I would appreciate if somebody help me regarding this.
When I have sound sleep suddenly I am awake and I see my bed goes straight up instead of laying down on the floor.
The wall clock was down under my feet. The mirror and chest up drawers were up on the roof. It was quiet scary. I know it is not possible practically but it was so real and I know I wasnt dreaming because I was awake. After 2 or 3 minutes all of them goes back slowly to its place. This happend about 4 to 5 times lately. All of these experience started happening 2 months ago. I really wanted to know why this is occuring do somebody on earth feels this way.Is anything wrong with my brain or eyes or both?!!
Please somebody help me.

I am also72 and have started haveing almost the same expenice while sleeping,I wake up when it is happening,I hear voices in the room, see people moving around, fell pressure when they get on my bed,I yell at them to go away, sometimes they will but sometimes they don't,when I start pleading the blood of Jesus or calling his name will then they leave,my hubsand will shake me and call me but it does no good, just the nameof Jesus.
I feel like I am really losing my mind at these times,Gold I really don't know what causes it,it is horrorable, try calling on Jesus it works for me,his name is above all things that I beleive,if this is some kind of illness I wish someone would tell us. Jeannie

Hello
The symptoms describe suggest some type of sleep related hallucinations. They are a type of parasomnia. They are mainly visual, but may also involve sound, touch and taste and smell sensations.
They are usually seen in teenagers and young adults as well as in older people. They may be related to alcohol, anxiety, mood disorders, insomnia or some current medication. In case your symptoms are associated with severe daytime sleepiness, then you may have narcolepsy.
Sleep related hallucinations however, tend to resolve with time, many a times requiring no treatment at all. You should maintain proper sleep hygiene and avoid alcohol.
You should consult a sleep specialist. Based on your complete medical, psychiatric, and sleep history, he may prescribe you some medication which best suits you.
Do keep us posted on your progress.
Good luck.

It will be interesting to hear if others have experienced what you do. Are you on any new meds that could have this effect? Some people who have sleep apnea and their oxygen level gets low experience hallucinations. What's your doctor saying?
