i dont know what it is, but more times than not, right before i fall asleep, my body starts to shake. its not a twitch but live a shiver/full body shake. it lasts for about a minute until i fall asleep. i also noticed that it also is happening in the middle of the night when i wake up sometimes, what could be causing me to shake like this?

Hi heathaalynn, how are you doing? Hope you might be feeling better now? How about your shaking movements of body during sleep? Has any other family members having similar kind of episodes? Have you been to a neurologist for the examination and investigation? Try going for evening walk and few stretches regularly. A change in sleeping position may be helpful. Keep updating on the doctor visit and advice. Take care and share your thoughts.

Hi heathaalynn, how are you? You need to give some more details regarding the jerks you are suffering now like do they occur in one particular region or in whole of body? Has any one observed whether these jerks continue even after you fall asleep? Is there anything that you do or it stops on its own? Usually, hypnic - sleep jerks or twitches are normal and can occur while you tend to fall asleep or when you try to wake up from sleep. You may also be suffering from severe stress and anxiety, which can also be a trigger factor. Also you might probably be having Rhythmic movement disorder. Do try to overcome the stress and relax. Physical therapy, body massage, regular stretches and warm bath before sleep can be helpful. Avoid smoking and alcohol. It is better to consult a neurologist and sleep specialist for further evaluation. Take care and update on your progress.
