sleep disorders/apnea

In fact, this is not a question.  I have just visited a prosthodontist concerning a device recommended for mild sleep apnea patients instead of the CPAP machine.  Medicare will be billed $800 + and I will pay $4-500 for things insurance will not cover.  ON THE OTHER HAND: www.snorerx.com/stopsnoring
looks very, very , very much like the device mentioned above that I am NOT going to have Medicare billed for.  Why not invest $100 and try it instead of draining Medicare and spending much more myself?  I have mild (5.4) and seemingly a dental device is more effective than the machine.  So, just spreading the results after posting my original questions on the wrong site.

Thank you for all your comments everyone.  I bought the SnoreRX and it was too big and did NOT work.  I decided on a C-Pap machine and have been struggling to find the right mask for about 6 weeks now.  About 2 weeks ago I remembered(?) that I have a deviated septum.  I have not discussed this with the Sleep Center but web search just today indicats that DS can cause SA.
Now i am thinking..only thinking because the med tech who is wonderful in working with me with the machine had the operation and it was a failure.  So I will do a lot of research before doing anything else.  Sorry that I never got back to all of you who gave me very good answers.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Good to see your positive energy. Some more tips for sleeping well. Follow good sleep hygiene measures like going to bed at the same time, waking up at the same time, avoiding smoking and caffeinated beverages. This will reduce the severity of sleep disorder symptoms. Always make the bedroom environment very cool, dark and cozy like a cave, cause bats are super snoozers and they sleep in caves.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Thank you.  I have not yet decided about the device; I am not over weight...145 and try to walk at least 3 times a week, but would be happier if I could get my butt out to do more.  I never go to sleep on my back.  I wake up on my back.  or I did until my GF told me to put a tennis ball down the back of my PJ top!  It works!  so still debating; looking and will certainly keep you posted.
I stopped drinking any alcohol for 3 years and it was during this time that the sleep apnea started.  I now have a glass of red wine when I go out for dinner or am with GF at home.  Otherwise will continue to not drink.Again, thank you for your input.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Good thinking. Along with the device, you could avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks and walk your way to sleeping well!!

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
