Hi, welcome to the forum, these can be side effect of the effexor and we cannot explain the actual cause for your symptoms. The drug is known to be associated with irritability, agitation, dizziness, sensory disturbances, anxiety etc.
Above mentioned symptoms can cause the disturbance in the sleep pattern. Your symptoms are expected to reduce over a week. If these symptoms continue then need further evaluation.
You need to go for morning exercises which will make you fresh and active all day and tiredness at the end of day will help you to induce sleep naturally. Yoga and meditation can also help to eliminate stress and create a more peaceful sleeping atmosphere and provides a relaxed state of mind.
I suggest you to consult psychiatrist for further evaluation. Take care and regards.
Hi
thanks for the feedback thats what Im going through now being anxious and carn't fall asleep. I know in time that when the efexor kicks in I'll get bk to normal, cause iv only ever been like this once before when i had a panic attack and it caused me to get depression and anxiety and got through it. :o)
I used to have problems with falling asleep when I was young. I was very anxious and would worry so that I couldn't fall asleep. I never tried sleep aids but used 'biofeedback', consciously relaxing each part of my body, starting at the feet and moving my way up. At the same time I would concentrate on slowing my breathing and think of Christmas morning (I was a child then). It worked for me. And the feeling of falling is a fairly normal sensation when falling asleep for some people. Probably where the falling part comes from.
