Hey  My dad had like a month and half of chantix left  it didnt work for him well he didnt really try that hard though! But i was wondering if anyone else had tryd that? He said i can have his month and half worth but i dont think a month and half is long enough to take it. So i was going to get it prescribed to me. But before I do i was wondering if there are any rating of it from you all? thanx   <3 Erin

DON"T DO CHANTIX.  My son, 19, took chantix for 3 months and the research was not done on young people.  He did quit smoking but at a great risk to his health.  It has been 10 months of hell since he went off the med.  While on the med he has mild side effects but after many blood tests, a positive ANA and anxiety/panic attacks - he is slowly getting healthy again.  We did not do our homework and the result was a very sick young man.  He has to be on a high dosage of vit D and lexapro for atleast a year, and with the help of a therapist to rewire the other nerves in his brain that chantix affected.  The urge to smoke was gone but so was his energy, will and personality.  NOT WORTH IT.  Try some other way - if my son could turn back the hands of time he would have tried other methods and never attempted chantix.  The psychologist said that he has had other cases of young people with severe side effects on chantix and tells us it will be a long road but hopeful to recover.  I will be thinking of you.

It does work for many many ppl, my hubby it didn't he went off them at ten weeks with bad side effects, but not everyone has side effects. I used the gum, now 12 months smoke free:) go for it..

Hi Erin, I quit with chantix after smoking for 40 years and I think it worked well because, in the end, I really wanted to quit even though I didn't know just how much I wanted it when I began taking it : )
You should research it though as it can be harmful to younger people. As for taking his prescription, the first week is a half dosage so you might really need to get your own. It is expensive, but depending on how much you are paying for your smokes, it will be worth it in no time.
Many others have their own opinions on chantix but the success rate is fairly good for those who stuck with it. Side effects for me were vivid dreams and slight stomach upset.

Do your homework Erin and whatever method you use, you will be better prepared.
