What is hapening

Hello,

I stopped smoking from 6 days ago.. Today exactly 6 days.

Yesterday evening I am feeling some strange pain in breast like when you smoke alot. It's more tight but my breath is ok.. And also started lightly coughing like one time in 2 hours I have to cough.. When I was sleeping yesterday I had not problems and did not cough...

It's a kind of dry cough.

I myself think it is because of the stop with smoking.

Is this something related or do I have to visit a doctor immediatly.

Thanks,.

I too went through the same thing with the dry cough at first.  It's confusing since logic tells you you should be coughing up tar; something at least.  Some people do, but many don't and that's normal also. My chest was very tight for months and I wasn't able to give up my inhaler until around the 10 month mark.  Like Teko said though, if it gets any worse, make an appt with your dr to make sure you don't have bronchitis or other issues.

Do remember to take deep breaths throughout the day.  When we smoked, we were inhaling deeply all day long, but with the smoking cessation, the deep breathing ended also.

Congrats to you on your quit!

I know I had the same thing and then after about 30 days it went away. If you are worried however, c your doc just to make sure all is clear because it is also known that smoking can mask other issues. So it will not hurt to get the all clear from you doc.

Your lungs are beginning to clean themselves out. This is normal right after quitting. Congratulations for getting this far! You will also experience trouble sleeping and if you do get some melatonin, or you might start experiencing anxiety and if that happens go to the doc so he can give ya somethin to get you thru the worst of it. Chew gum to keep your jaws and your mouth busy. Walk a few times a day so you will not gain too much weight from munching. You can do this.
