blood in phlegm

I have been smoking cigarettes and marijuana for a little over three years. I also smoked liquid pcp for about a year and a half, with a 6month break from all three when i went to rehab from nov08 to june09.. when i got out in june i started smoking pcp and weed again until i stopped about two weeks ago.. i still smoke cigarettes. i have had a lot of phlegm since i started smoking again, but there are also occasions when i hack up a loogie and there are little spots of blood in it- sometimes just blood and no phlegm, there's no pain it just comes up. i know it's probably from smoking cigarettes but i was also bulimic for 2years and still do it occasionally and i know that also causes throatbleeding? my question is do you think this is from the "fiber glass" that is supposedly in menthol cigarettes? vomiting? or both combined?

This sounds like you have a blood clot in your lungs. You need to see a doctor and get an X-ray to tell. You will have to go on blood thinners and be carefull not to cut yourself on then. This could be life theatening if the clot goes into your heart or brain so don't waist time.
good luck

Oh honey, I think you should see your doctor right away.  Like in IMMEDIATLY!  Coughing up blood is Never a good sign.  Never!

I am sorry you are going through so much, you need so many escapes :(  Sounds like maybe an Intervention was done on you and you were'nt ready to stop.  I'm thinking that since 6mos in rehab had little or no effect on you since you went right back to smoking PCP and weed again, which btw, is going to just DESTROY your poor young mind, please see about looking into some more counciling for yourself, so you can get to the root of why you feel the need to not face reality and live in a haze where little matters and you can't connect emotionally with the people who love you. I won't even mention the confession to your bulimia  This could indeed be why you're coughing up blood.

I am much older than you and when I was your age I did the kinds of things you're doing to yourself, although, maybe not as much, but still, you really need to address why you continue to hurt yourself to this point, my dear.  You have another 50-60yrs of living and trust me, you don't want to live it the way you are, because all that drugging and smoking will make you feel 100times worse, little by little over time.  Year after year, you will feel a little worse until one day you will wake up and think "wow, and I thought I felt awful 5yrs ago!" then "wow, I thought I felt horrid ten years ago" and on it goes...trust me!

I see you stopped the PCP and weed a few weeks ago, good job!!!...but are still smoking cigs.  I would very much like to encourage you to go visit a website that has helped so many of us here.  It's call whyquit.com.  Check it out and see what you think.  You can also apply some of what whyquit has to offer to the PCP and weed addiction :)

Really, PCP is scary stuff.  I knew a childhood friend who did so much a that stuff, she ended up in a mental institution until the day she died a few years ago :(

My prayers are with you.  I know how hard it is to stop taking drugs when it's all that seems to help :(, but believe me, there really are better ways to cope :)  One other forum you may want to check it is the Addiction Forum.  VERY helpful and understanding people there.  You need help? They are there! :)

p.s.  I know I got sidetracked form just cigarettes, and I hope I didn't offend you rattling on, it's just it seems you may need a bit more help than just us here on the smoking forum.
