8 Years of Nicorette Gum/ 14 Hours Without.

I am on my first 14 hrs after quitting nicorette gum.  Ive been chewing nicorette for more than 8 years.  And I have tried to quite several times with no real lasting success.  This time I believe I can do this.  I thinks so because today is also day 193 of me quitting Subutex and and Lortabs.  About six months ago I jumped off my last pill and I've made it this far. Now I am ready to quit this Nicorette Gum thing.  I chewed incessantly.  Probably more than 10 4mg tabs a day, all day every day.  But I am 43 now and something is wrong.  I believe the Nicotine has adversely effected my energy levels and brain chemistry.  So I quit about 14 hours ago.

I am posting because I was hoping that you folks might have some tips for getting through the next few days, and I was hoping for any insight any of you might have in terms of what I might expect in the next few hours, days weeks and months ahead.

Please let me know if you thinks you can help.

Thanks.

What you are experiencing is w/d so hang in there and keep yourself busy! Exercise, walking is a really good way to ease them.

I'm assuming that stopping the gum is about the same as quitting smokes? Everyone that I know of, that quit tobacco using nicorette, is still chewing so I would suggest that you log onto whyquitdotcom and read some of the articles in Joel's Library. Concentrate on the ones that talk about the addiction and how to stay strong through your quit. Go to "motivation" to understand what is around the corner if you don't quit and write here as often as you like.......we will support your quit, we have all been through it, or are going through it now. You aren't alone : )
Congrats on 14 hours!
