??Failed Blood Patch

Hello there,

Had an Epidural Steroid Injection on
April 17/18, this CRAZY headache started on April 19/18, I FINALLY was given a Blood Patch on April 27/18.

After the blood patch I had relief from the headache. It wasn’t gone 100% BUT it was much better than what it was before, I could actually stand up and walk without getting nauseous and vomiting and have my head feel like it was going to explode. Then the next day I noticed the headache starting to get worse again.

So, here I am 2 days post the blood patch and I don’t feel any better than I did before the blood patch. I am stuck flat on my back again drinking water, Gatorage, caffeine inhaling Advil and Tylenol. I did call the dr and he told me to stay hydrated etc and that he would contact me the next day.

What do they do if the blood patch failed?? Why would it fail?? I am SO INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED as I have not been able to work, I just don’t know what the next process is or if there even is one??

Thank you for allowing me to ramble on about my situation.

Hi....I never had a blood patch, but I had a CSF leak that did heal on it's own.....I am not sure waht your activiteis were like after your blood patch, but I was made to lay flat for 5 days and if not healed was going to get a blood patch and lucky for me on that fifth day it was healed.....

It is possible you needed more rest for yours to heal.....drink plenty of fluids....tht is all you can do for now and hopefully like mine yours will seal.
