This is interesting and I am thankful for the postings I have read so far. It would be interesting to hear from others how they think/feel G-d speaks to them via Bible or other books, etc. and how they know it is Him.
I find comfort in the Bible. The other day I could have read Psalm 16 over and over and over.
When I had "storms", I would kneel by the bed or sit in a place with the Bible and pray/read & sometimes just drifted off for a short time. It felt like the Lord took me in His arms and comforted me. The words are like gold....sweeter than honey and more precious with passing time as to being words to bring insight, understanding, more awareness to a situation or drawing like a well, awareness of a need or letting go, etc., etc.
Words come to mind at times from the Bible when seeking answers. It is a filter and a framework. Doesn't mean there are not questions over the difficult parts. That is the "letting go" challenge for me.
......
"My eyes have seen all this,
my ears have heard and understood it.
2 What you know, I also know;
I am not inferior to you.
3 But I desire to speak to the Almighty
and to argue my case with God.
4 You, however, smear me with lies; <-------Who is he talking about/to? who are they
you are worthless physicians, all of you!
5 If only you would be altogether silent!
For you, that would be wisdom.
6 Hear now my argument;
listen to the plea of my lips.
I feel like Job is someone I can REALLY relate to when I get overwhelmed with my situation, or at a loss to understand something going on in my life.
It is only recently that i realized how liberating surrendering the illusion that things "should" be different than they are. Everything is happening and unfolding according to Gods plans, and the world works in mysterious ways to show us that sometimes. I thought i would post a few other interpretations of that verse in hopes one of them will connect with someone in our forum. :)

That was awesome and so encouraging to read. I only had this happen a couple of time where it was that clear but it was pretty special. :)
And painbrain, the person talking to God in that passage was Job. :)
That is wonderful - God certainly did show up to encourage you.
Do you know the context of the verse? Like who is speaking here?
" But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue my case with God"
I am just curious.
I am glad that you are staying positive, hopeful, etc. In my opinion(not a doctor) that is likely the best thing you can do for your overall health :)
As far as Bibliomancy is concerned, sometimes the best "medicine" is an uplifting verse, poem, or philosophy we feel a connection to. I have also used this system with other books and scriptures as well, and every now and then I will be really lost or at my wits end, and I will do the same thing, ( My grandma taught me) I hold the book to my heart and try to hold in my mind the situation I need guidance with. (sort of like praying, "hey God, can u please take a look at my heart and what is troubling me? )
Then I lay the book spine down with the cover in each hand, and kind of let it fall open and put my hand somewhere on the open pages.
I also did the same thing in college once when I couldn't decide what to write a paper on. :) And I have used a book of quotes that I have the same way1:)
