hahah bb good to hear from you, yellow, docile and a long tongue ..sounds good for a bee .so do think they have flown from Italy ? .
Hi guys. Just stopping by for a minute. lol
I was reading about bees just the other day. Did you know the majority of honey bees are Italian bees? I just loved learning that. They are more docile, yellow, and have long tongues. Guess thats the end of my knowledge. lol
Interesting I must read up about them ..I know that we have a problem with a shortage of bees, they say the pesticides are killing them off..I don't use pesticides at all .These must come into the garden as I haven't seen a hive .wonder if they'd eat an apple ...
I know that honeybees usually forage for pollen and nectar. But, when it's this hot and dry, I'm sure it's 'slim pickings' for them. Honeybees seem to like any kind of fruit or vegetable scraps. They must want the sucrose and fluid. It's easy for me to distinguish honeybees from other bees and wasps. They are so prevalent in the south. Also, as a young boy, I helped an uncle work honeybee hives. When away from the hive a honeybee will not usually sting unless she is provoked. If you tamper with the hive, they will become aggressive.
oh Beau I dint think of putting food out ..I have no melon in, what else do they like ? someone said they may be wasps but I don't think so, they are not as stripey/yellow and are small and fat ..also very gentle I have saved dozens of them as they fall into their drinking water ...
I like bees, too. And, they are very neccessary to our well being. I put out watermelon rinds & anything else they will feed on. It's great to see the honey bees enjoying their meals.
hahah well some bees are still around but less, its a bit cooler so maybe they are not as thirsty, I am still rescuing them from the water ..what a great experience it has been ..I like bees ...
