I have solved a Mystery , I hope !!
Well I was going to put this up on my journal but I think it would be more appreciated here. Starts about 18 months ago after some nasty, dental work that involved a lot of trauma and pain....2 days after the happening' I broke out in Hives ,neck, back of neck and arms. I have spent the last 18 months plaguing the Allergy forum, the Lyme Forum, the complmentary Med Forum....trying to find out what caused it, the burning, itching, has been awfully painful. Now around that time apart form the loonatic Dentist who traumatised me, I have taken Penicillin , 600mgs of Advil and hydroxizene ..all could cause allergies. I also had a lot of Lidocaine in the procedure, I did one other thing in those few days......drum roll.........I went and got myself 4 Bunny Ears Plants (Opuntia Microdasys) being a bit on the non knowledegable side where plants are concerned , I loved them, for me that meant regular touching , poking and being near ..... Ho Hmm you know whats coming... after all this time of agony, it is starting to go away..no.... No doctor helped me .. I did research and happened upon an article about Toxic plants ...a red flag went up in my head ....Ha Ha ha I am allergic to Opuntia......Now go on beat that for a dumb true story .......
They are expensive plants so I am trying to sell them, I still have no rash 2 weeks later, I just cannot beieve it, but its all there how toxic they can be , I guess you just cant prod and poke Cactus ,I keep meaning to put it up on the allergy forum that I had been posting on sometime about the Hives I had.I still get an itchy scalp so maybe thats another allergy LOL
Aw! Poor Bunny ears....they know you hate them for what they did to you. (I don't blame you either)

I still cant believe it ginger, I have ahd about 20 months of terrible pain fromthis, huge hives , burning , itching, day and night ......all gone , nothing ....Nada ....my skin is clear , I have spent a ton of money at the docs, allergist ....etc..I go online and lo and behold Bunny ears are TOXIC.....absolutly google them guys ..I still have them, but I dont want them, I dont touch them at all, but I did I am a toucher and thats animals, plants people ......I cannot dump them ..or can I.......
It's good you found out what was causing the rash!
Similar happened to me about 16 years ago
Strange large dark brown marks started appearing all over my arms. I got scared, wondered if I'd got skin cancer. The marks seemed to get worse, day after day, and itched a bit. Eventually I was persuaded to go to the doctor. He didn't know what they were either. He examined them with a magnifying glass. Then he noticed that many of the marks had some straight edges at certain places on my arms.
Still he was baffled. Said it looked like some kind of allergy, and told me to not use any shower gels, perfumes, deodorants, moisturizers,etc for a few days, and see if that made any difference. If not I was to go back and he'd send me to a skin specialist.
Then one day at work I met a girl with the same marks. Shocked, I asked her what they were, and showed her my arms.
She laughed, and asked me if I'd been near Hog weed.
I remembered doing some heavy gardening, clearing weeds, about 2 weeks earlier.
She said if you get Hog weed juice on you, then sunshine immediately after, it makes the brown marks, and they don't go away for ages.
I went to tell the doctor. He had never heard of thet before, and was fascinated.
(The straight edges on the marks was where my sleeves had stopped the hogweed juice from touching my arms)

Ha Ha Ha I may live quite a way..but hey my rash is subsiding so all this time at least I know the rash was caused by an allergy to these plants ...
I just looked up this type of plant. VERY NICE!! :) They would look Great on my patio! Oh Uhmm... You will Deliver Right?
PS they are expensive collectable plants .....anyone want them ??
