There will never be peace man kind always want what we dont have and dont want to give up what we do. If we were all gray blobs we would still fight over who was grayer. Peace is an idea and nothing more. Even in the 60's which was suspose to be utopia in hate county. What you dont hear is people were using LCD and did kill themselce and each other.
You are right, I think what we need to have peace get unifird are some elements which are missing right now :
1- Patience
2- courage
3- Hope
4- Decency
5- Humanity
6- Justified
7- spirituality
8- ...
We all have these elements (at least to some degree) because we are man kind, what we need to do is not allowing some hypocrites or corrupted people govern us
I know it is not that simple but let's keep our hopes
